ReplyDeleteSome random thoughts this morning: Gaining the constant resolve to perform at a high level requires an acceptance of pain that is merely that: acceptance. Comfort in all its guises is a highly valued commodity in America's culture--perhaps it is among the highest valued. And when the bar for real physical fitness in society is set so low (fitness is even subtly derided) it is difficult to not see ourselves as "weird" when we make decisions that go against the norm regarding the importance we place on fitness. Ultimately, a lot of what we become depends a lot on how we choose to live, who we hang with, who we train with. One thing we can do for each other is raise our own standards of performance. When we do this, everyone around us, if they are truly peers in the sense of commitment, will also raise their standards. This is all to say that I appreciate everyone's efforts very much. Also, it's worth mentioning how awesome it is that the word "fun" often comes up in conversation after we finish our daily training. Fun. Let's keep having fun.
ReplyDeleteRight on, Randy!
